MRC at the Second Harvest Food Bank

Back in January, MRC members were told to make MLK Day a day on, not a day off. A few members spent their day on packaging food at the Grand Rapids Second Harvest Food Bank.

Karla Foix, Cathy Seely, Bethany Grooms, Sara Gonzalez, Kari Gjerde and Teresa Greneger (plus her two kids) braved a Minnesota winter storm to package food for food shelves in Itasa County and Grand Rapids.

As a national day of service, it is natural that AmeriCorps members volunteer on MLK Day. Although it has been nearly three weeks ago now and surely the food has already been eaten, MRC members are still volunteering every day. That's full-time work.
