Thanksgiving is over and December is here which means it is now the holiday season. Nobody needs to stress out about finding the perfect gift though. The Minnesota Literacy Council and The MRC are stepping up the fundraising and providing a way to double the gifts you give.
Shoppers at Barnes & Noble in Eagan, Calhoun Village and Maple Grove will be able to make a gift by donating books directly to the Minnesota Literacy Council. These bookstores will have books up at the register which can be purchased for MLC children’s programs. This goes until December 31, so hopefully books will be the hot holiday item for 2009.
Also, through Razoo and giveMN.org, donors can make twice the impact. Each dollar donated to the MRC will be matched by the McKnight Foundation. The MRC has a goal of $40,000 by March to expand the program.
So there are two great ways to give twice as many gifts this year. Go to Barnes & Noble and get a book for someone you know and for someone you don't, or just go to Razoo and give a donation and have someone else double it. However you do it, you're giving support to literacy. I don't see a downside to this.
