Check out this new article about the MRC in the Star Tribune.
It brings up a very important issue that tends to get overlooked - improving literacy of Minnesota's students isn't only helpful for the students' well-being, but helping them helps Minnesota continue to grow too. Giving students these basic literacy skills will help them succeed in the workforce later in life, regardless of what the job is.
There's much more in the article itself - it's a great read and helps lay out just why organizations like the MRC support more than education.
