Bill Tamlyn, a self-employed writer from St. Paul and a One Man Minneapolis contestant, won the competition last Saturday night at the Pantages Theatre!
Bill Tamlyn along with all the other contestants choose an organization to support for the event, and Bill chose the Minnesota Reading Corps. And because he won, Bill and the MRC both receive a year supply of vitaminwater zero and a check for $2,500!
"I set out to meet new people, have fun and raise awareness of the amazing work the Minnesota Reading Corps does. I feel like I achieved those things and came away inspired, humbled and energized to give back even more," Bill said after winning the event.
Bill was chosen by a combination of online voting from the public and panel of seven local judges who are active in the Twin Cities. The award was presented by Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak, First Lady Megan O'Hara and co-hosts Ann Michels and Christiana Clark. The competition was narrowed down to five from 20, who then competed to impress the judges and the crowd last Saturday night.
"We are so impressed by the mission of this competition, connecting more people to worthy nonprofits and highlighting their important work," said Audry Suker, CEO of ServeMinnesota, the umbrella organization of MN Reading Corps. "Bill is a true ambassador for the Minnesota Reading Corps and The One Man Minneapolis competition is a great way to share our story with more people."
So let's give a big thank-you to the MRC family and friends who voted and supported Bill and the One Man Minneapolis and of course a huge thank-you and congratulations to Bill who pulled it off- THANK-YOU!
